Am I A Good Fit?
Am I a good fit for the School of Adaptive Agriculture? We get this question a lot, especially now as we gear up for the Spring Term here at the school. If the following sounds intriguing then, yes – absolutely, we are the place for you to begin your exploration of sustainable farming and agriculture.
The School of Adaptive Agriculture offers a broad view of agriculture in its many facets, from the various ways to raise livestock (organic, humane, pasture, etc.) to soil management, industrial and kitchen arts, sustainable crop production, business management, and community engagement and dynamics. All the while leaving room for student to pursue their own interests through independent projects and study. At the end of the term students are asked to present to friends, fellow farmers and guest instructors their semester project and an overview of their educational journey & growth.
Our students come here to learn the fundamentals of agriculture and what specialties interest them the most, as well as acquire hands-on experience on a working farm. With that knowledge under their belt, they then typically continue their studies with internships or further formal studies.
We have two former students that have chosen to stay on the ranch, one running our market garden that produces vegetables for students, the local senior centers and farmers markets and an another graduate that is growing grains (to make bread to sell) and helping manage our livestock.
If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of please feel free to contact us at the school. We are here to answer questions or help arrange a visit of our facility – office@adaptive agriculture.org.
