Our Programs Postponed
Like most small organizations and nearly all households around the country and the world, the School of Adaptive Agriculture is waiting out the storm.
Two weeks ago we agreed to postpone indefinitely our Practicum Program, scheduled to start April 20th. We had admitted six wonderful students, offered generous scholarships and were looking forward to a great session. But it was apparent even before the stay at home orders that we could not plan on starting in the near future. Whether or not that will be this summer sometime, no one knows.
Within the next few days, it became apparent that our workshops, too, at least those scheduled for the next couple of months, would have to be canceled and, hopefully, rescheduled sometime in the future. The Ridgewood Ranch community, which graciously hosts the School, recently announced its own restrictive visitor and resident policies. Programs at the Ranch, too, are on hold.
Despite the uncertainty we continue to hope and plan for a future after the crisis. We will be working on new programs and plans for existing ones as we learn more about what to expect in coming months. Look for updates here and on Facebook. And keep in touch! We would love to post stories of how local farmers, ranchers and gardeners are coping and caring for their communities.
Above all, keep safe and find satisfying ways to use this down time from the hectic pace we’ve all taken for normal.
Best,
Michael Foley, Director
