Grazing Cattle: Cattle grazing in the field between our sleeping and studying quarters and the grange crop/grazing field. Annual grasses (now dry having set seed already) include wild out (Avena fatua), ripgut brome (Bromus diandrus), hedgehog dogtail grass (Cynosurus echinatus), and some soft chess/brome (Bromus hordeaceus). Perennial grasses include harding grass (Phalaris aquatica), red fescue (Festuca rubra), orchard grass Dactylis glomerata), and the occasional blue wildrye (Elymus glaucus). 

Rocky Hill North of Farm: This is the view to the North-NE of the farm. On the grassy slopes to the left I found some perennial purple needlegrass (Stipa pulchra). It was hidden beneath the oxidizing stalks of wild oat, next to the crumbling remains of filaree (Erodium ssp.). The oak grassland turns to bay, madrone, and then doug fir in the hills above the pastures.

Tent Cabins: Our 10×12′ personal tent cabins. A eastbound wind runs across the southern face of my tent in the hot afternoons so I sit and lie on the edge to cool off. The tent comes with a wood burning stove set-up so I imagine it would be cozy year around. $1000 in total for the tent–wood platform not included.
