Description
A Woodcrafting Workshop with Master Woodworker John Cunnan
Many forested areas are overcrowded with small diameter Douglas fir trees that are competing for sunlight, nutrients, nutrients, water, and space to grow. Up to 25 percent of these small trees are dead standing or dying adding dry fuel for catastrophic wildfires. These small diameter suppressed growth trees have tight growth rings that make for a strong and durable construction material.
Master wood craftsman John Cunnan will guide participants in the making of furniture utilizing these fir poles. Participants get to choose between making a three-legged stool, a four-legged bar stool, a four-legged kitchen stool (short bar stool), and a small bench. Some parts will be prepared in advance to facilitate time. but at this workshop participants will learn to use a shaving horse workbench, a draw knife, a spoke shave, and other hand tools to construct their chosen piece.
The $65.00 registration fee includes all needed parts, the tools and materials to complete the piece, one-on-one instruction and you get to take your piece home.
Saturday, August 27, 9 AM to 12 PM, at Ridgewood Ranch.
