We will explain how to cultivate medicinal mushrooms from spore to fruiting body, including making grain jars, inoculation, transferring from jars to bulk substrate, introducing fruiting conditions, harvesting, and avoiding contamination. We will teach you how to do all this while keeping your environmental impact in mind and will answer any questions you may have.

Instructor’s Bio: Michael Cole is passionate about the environment, enriching others’ lives, and sharing his knowledge. He has a B.A. in Geography with an Environmental Studies focus from San Francisco State University and an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Washington. He is a professional brewer who combined his biology and environmental knowledge with a natural curiosity to teach himself about mycological medicinal tinctures. He is co-founder of the nonprofit Optimistic Orchard, which he runs with his wife and two children. Visit their website – optimisticorchard.org – for more information.
