Taxes and Record Keeping for Small Farmers – Workshop 1: Financial Record Keeping for Small Farms

March 26, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$10

This is the first installment in a three-part series led by Michael Foley, following up on his popular workshop by the same name from the Farmers’ Convergence (in Feb.).

This workshop will look in detail at various records that need to be kept both to provide information for tax time and to gauge the financial health of the farm. We will look at using spreadsheets vs. accounting programs for keeping data; the easiest ways to keep records of income; how to use invoices and record payments; and how to organize expenses records. We’ll also discuss how to use these records to analyze markets, expenses, and the performance of different enterprises within the farm. Participants are encouraged to bring their own record keeping tools and share their experiences in the course of the workshop.

Location: Fireside Room, Golden Rule Dining Hall, Ridgewood Ranch

Open to all. Donations appreciated (suggested donation – $10). Thank you to the MendoLake Food Hub for supporting this workshops series.
