History of Agriculture and Domestication

May 10, 2016

$10

A People’s History of Agriculture: How has agriculture shaped the way people have lived over the last 10,000 years? How has the organization of agriculture treated those who work the land? What can indigenous gardeners, peasants, sharecroppers, and several generations of American family farmers tell us about how we should be managing the land and feeding ourselves at the end of the Age of Oil? We’ll try to answer these big questions with some digging around in history, ancient and modern.

Domestication of plants and animals can tell us as much about our food as it can about human beings. Anthropological analysis of human civilization will help us understand the process of domestication in agriculture.
