Beginning Carpentry & Shed Construction

This course will take you from beginner basic skills to building an actual 10X12 storage shed. We will cover basic tools, how to hammer nails, safety, laying out a pier foundation, building a floor, framing and erecting walls, exterior paneling, and roof construction.

Session 1:  June 29th,  8am to 5pm with hour lunch break

  • Basics of carpentry, working with wood properties.
  • Safety
  • Hammering nails, screwing, sawing
  • Laying out a pier foundation
  • Building a floor frame
  • Installing floor panels

Session 2:   June 30th, 8am to 5pm with hour lunch break

  • Framing walls and erecting
  • Attaching exterior panels
  • Installing rafters
  •  Installing roof sheathing
  • Installing metal roofing

Site: Ridgewood Ranch, Buttercup Compost Lab

Instructor: Takashi Yogi, School of Adaptive Agriculture

Cost: $60 per session or $120 for entire weekend course.

Session 1 is a pre-requisite for taking Session 2.
