All About Farm Labor
Join us for an in-depth discussion of the practical and legal aspects of farm labor management. This is a workshop for farmers by farmers, meant to help you recruit and retain the farm workers you need. Topics will include:
- avenues for recruiting farm labor
- minimum wage and other legal requirements
- housing and meals as compensation
- where to find a reasonable workers compensation policy
- what counts as an internship
- laying off, firing and serving as a reference
- alternatives to employment, from family labor to partnerships to CSA participation
